News about the competition, which is now being held by the Parliament of Ukraine for the position of the Head and members of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries, spread very quickly. A variety of opinions and political campaigns have unfolded in this field. Including many rumors about who is seen at the Head of the known Commission.
Famous businessman Boris Baum became one of the applicants for this position. However, he recently posted a post on his official Facebook page in which he publicly declined the opportunity:
“Well, there are things in this world that are more important than career ambitions. Among them is the modernization of society, the creation of a comfortable space for life and work. This is respect for the people with whom an overwhelming project has moved, and whom you have no right to let down. So that the politicized campaign against Boris Baum does not cast a shadow on the entire draft of changes, which is unambiguously correct and necessary for the country, so that it does not turn from an engine of reform into an obstacle, I withdraw my candidacy from the competition and no longer claim to lead the commission on regulation of the gambling market ".
Also, Baum briefly described the general situation in the country, including the new legislation in the gambling sector. The businessman expressed the following opinion about the current situation:
"The winning finish was already on the horizon. The Commission for the Regulation of the Gambling Market was created to sell licenses, and I became a participant in an open competition to choose a leader. I do not know if I was the best applicant, it is not for me to judge, but the experience of formulating new rules and writing a law definitely gave me some benefits.
At this moment, the gambling mafia, almost finished off by us, threw all its enormous resources to curtail the reform and survive. In recent weeks and months, the technologies of black PR and destruction of reputation, well-developed in Ukraine, have been directed against me personally. "
