On June 3, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Сommittee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, draft law No.2285-d was considered and the amendments proposed by experts were discussed.
For the approval of the bill and its recommendation for the second reading in the meeting room, 21 committee members voted at a meeting on Wednesday, two were against. A member of the committee Andrei Motovilovets ("Sluga Naroda" faction) informed about this:
"The committee almost unanimously supported the formation of a new market and with a consolidated position asks for the support of the Verkhovna Rada. We are fully ready to go out into the hall for a second reading."
At the same time, members of the committee from the “Golos” faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Galina Vasilchenko, left the committee meeting in protest. Vasilchenko commented on her Facebook page:
“Just now, Yaroslav Zheleznyak and I left the committee meeting due to the fact that the procedure was voted according to which we were not able to defend our important amendments: to provide slot machines only in five-star hotels (the draft law for the second reading contains a proposal to allow them in three and four-star), limiting the number of slot machines taking into account the population. This norm was adopted in the first reading. But attention - it just disappeared by the second reading. We wanted to return it. The rule that does not allow placing slot machines (even in hotels) closer than 500m from preschool educational institutions, schools, children's entertainment centers disappeared "
Also several thousand amendments submitted to the document have been united, and if the deputies support this decision, bill No.2285-d will be voted on according to a special abbreviated procedure.
