The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) and the Spanish gambling regulator “Direccion General de Ordenacion del Juego” (DGOJ) are joining forces fighting fixed matches in the country. Organizations believe that match-fixing can harm football, athletes and fans. In addition, fixed games are dangerous for betting operators.
Organizations have created a new channel for information publishing. Educational content will also be posted there. The channel will raise awareness of citizens in the gambling industry.
At the same time, the Spanish government is working to reduce the harm from gambling. Thus, advertising of gambling on TV, radio and Youtube is limited from 1 am to 5 am. Gambling sponsorship is now also prohibited. Spanish football teams will have to sever all sponsorship ties with bookmakers by the end of the 2020/2021 season. They are given time until August 2021 to search for new sponsors.
