Experts from the Queensland University of Technology, together with the Department of Psychology at Umeå University in Sweden, conducted a survey among professional gamers. 1400 players from 65 countries of the world took part in the study.
It turned out that a professional gamer has a normal body mass index 9-21% more often than a person who works in any other field. Players abstain from alcoholic beverages 7.9% more often, and also smoke less - only 3.9% versus 18.7%. This allowed us to conclude that gamers are more active in a healthy lifestyle. However, the study also showed that cyber athletes are nearly 4% more likely to be severely obese than the rest of the world's population.
