Cybersportsmen are more likely to lead a healthy lifestyle

Queensland University of Technology Study shows how games affect health

Experts from the Queensland University of Technology, together with the Department of Psychology at Umeå University in Sweden, conducted a survey among professional gamers. 1400 players from 65 countries of the world took part in the study.

It turned out that a professional gamer has a normal body mass index 9-21% more often than a person who works in any other field. Players abstain from alcoholic beverages 7.9% more often, and also smoke less – only 3.9% versus 18.7%. This allowed us to conclude that gamers are more active in a healthy lifestyle. However, the study also showed that cyber athletes are nearly 4% more likely to be severely obese than the rest of the world’s population.
