Q&A: How much would you tip if you won a “bad beat jackpot” playing poker in the casino?

Question by Frank: How much would you tip if you won a “bad beat jackpot” playing poker in the casino?
If you won $ 20,000 in a bad beat jackpot how much would you tip?

Best answer:

Answer by ?
I would tip 5% ($ 1000 in your example), but never more than $ 5000 no matter what I won. I know it gets split between the dealers, but I figure the rake is severe enough in the cash games that if you fluke into a big win on a BBJ that you aren’t obligated to put a lot into a tip. I’ve seen a jackpot go at $ 185k once so $ 5k.

As an aside, I’ve seen a lot of tourney’s start taking tips off the top of the total pool. I’d be very reluctant to give any tip in this case, even if I won the top prize.

My main question is….can I quit the game at any time to cash in my winnings?

No, you can’t get up and come back without losing hands. They’re not gonna wait for you, if that’s what you mean.

But you can quit at any time.

Sure, go ahead and tell everyone else. That way, you probably get banned (and rightly so) and no one will have to deal with you any more.

whats the best strategy to make money playing poker online?

Question by brannonc07: whats the best strategy to make money playing poker online?
I’m thinking that the best way would be to sit at multiple ring games and play your hand honestly with minimum bluffing. That’s what I did starting out playing poker and did alright with it. I’ve been trying to employ some more advanced deception techniques lately, and while the do work occasionally, i’m still not making as much as i did playing honest hands. What would you recommend as the safest and easiest way to play profitably?

Best answer:

Answer by bluffraise
at the lowest limits playing abc poker is definitely the way to go…bluffing is good as long as you have narrowed down which players would be willing to fold and if the situation allows for it…

pay very close to your image…do you believe that your opponent believes that you could bluff that spot…

When playing hold’em poker in a casino, does the dealer announce the pot size?

poker casino

Question by andronicus37m: When playing hold’em poker in a casino, does the dealer announce the pot size?
I’ve played hold’em online, but not in a casino (yet). I was just wondering whether the dealer routinely announces what the pot size is after every bet, or if you are supposed to figure it out yourself from the chips that are visible on the table. Thanks!

Answer by MalasPalabras
Generally not in a limit game. Its up to the player to keep a running count. IN pot limit they may as well as no limit. I’ve never played or dealt them but there is no reason for them to.

Two tricks you can use.

1.) I would ask the dealer what he takes his rake at and watch for when he completes it.

2.) The dealer should annouce how many players are in the hand before each betting round. Just keep a tally of that (ie 5 to the flop, 3 to the turn 5+3=8 bets). Then multiply it by the smaller limit. in a 3/6 game, 5 on the flop is a total of $ 15 and with a bet and two callers equals 3 bets for a total of 8 bets. 8×3=27 dollars.
