What online texas hold em game was I playing?

Question by justin 256: What online texas hold em game was I playing?
At one of the online game rooms Zone, Yahoo, Postopia, or somewhere else I played this game. I want to know where it was and what it was. I was a cowboy and I had to win poker tournaments and cash games to win money in the town. I think after I won all of the money in the town I would then go to the next town and so on.

I lost $3, 000 playing online poker — What can I do?

Question by Modern M: I lost , 000 playing online poker — What can I do?
I deposited $ 100, turned it into $ 300 then lost that. Then I won $ 2500 in a tournament and turned it into $ 3000 shortly after. Over the next 12hrs I ended up losing it all and now I feel shitfaced like never before.

I don’t know what I should do cuz this is putting me in a major slump but how can I handle this loss!?
It’s not fixed…obviously. I technically didn’t lose $ 100 (from my wallet, yes) because I had the chance to withdraw the 3g’s if I wanted to…
I don’t need to know to quit gambling and stuff, I’m looking for a way to deal with the slumps cuz this has got me lying in bed sick…I know I got a problem, I’m not in denial.
Thanks for the guy that covered the actual question of how to deal with myself from it. I was playing $ 10/20 Limit and to be honest I played solid…the guy was a major donk who would just raise/bet with nothing (at times he’d go to showdown for a $ 200 pot with jack high) but he got the best of me on about 15 rivers in the matter of half an hour and it killed my cash flow to the point where I started playing emotionially and went on “tilt”

I’ve recently been playing some of my strongest poker (hence my 2.5k win) but the fact that I lost 3k now makes things a lot messed up and I don’t know what to do. With the gambling mind I say I got to win it back somehow but…yeh

Poker isn’t 100% gambling but there is a gamble to it too.

Technically you only lost 100 dollars. The rest you gave back to the site. Let it go, and stop gambling online…don’t you know that crap is fixed? :)

If you can’t stop doing it, and it is causing you grief about your choice not to take your winnings and leave, then its gambling. you took a $ 2900 windfall and gambled at the chance of making more. I know it takes skill to play poker, I have placed top 10 in WSOP events, but what you are doing is gambling, not skill. The real skill would have been to walk away with the $ 2900 a winner. This is the reason most pro poker players are able to make a living at it. They don’t gamble their winnings.

And there are bots that play on those sites, if you don’t know that just go to youtube and look up absolute poker. You will see how the CEO took down lots of people by being able to see all their cards. Online poker is illegal, therefore it is not controlled by anyone. If they didn’t pay you your winnings, just who would you call to complain? Do you think you could take them to small claims court? Do some homework and read up on it, then stop going to those sites with a vendetta to “win it all back”. You lost $ 100, and the sooner you see that the easier it will be for you to get past it.

Q&A: First time playing poker in casino, tips?

Question by xXStarterXx: First time playing poker in casino, tips?
I’ve only playe donline for play money and Im sure i’ll still be confused about some house rules or even official rules. Is it ok to ask and how do the other players feel about new ‘fishes’ ? It’s a freeroll, so I dont think it;s gonna be that cerious…

Thanks

Answer by pdq
If it’s a “free roll” then don’t worry about it. Go to have fun!

Other players LOVE the “fishes” as you put it, because they know that those are the people that will give away their money. You won’t be one of the “fishes”, though, because you aren’t playing for real money.

As for tips – Stick to only premium hands if you want to last a long time in the tournament. It’s more boring, but that’s what you’ll need to do to survive.

Premium hands are cards like: A-A, K-K, Q-Q, J-J, A-K, A-Q, and maybe A-J and K-Q. Always being suited makes the hand even more premium.

Playing Online Poker (How Much To Play For)?

Question by Summertime: Playing Online Poker (How Much To Play For)?
Ok, I’m playing Pokerstars and only playing 9 or 18 person tournaments
I’m wondering how much should I play for compared to how much I have in my Pokerstars account….
EX: Only play tournaments that buyins are 1/10th of how much you have saved in your Pokerstars account (Account=$ 100 then play tournaments that buy ins are $ 10)
Any ideas about what ratio you suggest to play with…thanks!

Q&A: Is playing poker in freeroll tournaments bad for your game?

poker tournaments

Question by Skepticat: Is playing poker in freeroll tournaments bad for your game?

Best answer:

Answer by TStodden
I do not believe playing in a freeroll tournament is bad for your game as you’re still getting a learning experience in, even if you’re not risking any money in the process.

The only downside I can see is that you may play a bit more recklessly as you’re not out any money if you lose.

You should start at a small stakes table until you feel comfortable. If can consistently show a profit, then advance to the higher stakes tables.

Have you ever hit the wrong button while playing online poker?

Question by bigwheels1031: Have you ever hit the wrong button while playing online poker?
I just had the misfortune of accidentally going all-in at a freeroll tournament. I had 10Q offsuit and ended up hitting my eight to queen straight on the river. Took down 5,220 in chips too.

You haven’t played online if you’ve never done it. It’s common! Especially when you’re playing multiple tables. You’re going for a fold on one table and wham! another window pops us and you fold on THAT table.

It’s frustrating.

Question by Jason: Tipping Question at casino playing while playing poker?
I was at the casino the other day playing 2/5 NL texas holdem

I won a $ 950 pot and I tipped the dealer $ 10. Was that a good tip or was I being cheap compared to people usually tip? I have not played live very much so I dont know what I am supposed to tip.

There is no set amount for tipping if the service provided is good then tip, how much is up to you. Remember that a tip is a gratuity and no one is entitled to it if the service you are receiving is bad don’t tip.
