I need some online Poker tips and Strategies?

Question by Vova34: I need some online Poker tips and Strategies?
I want to start my online poker account soon but I need some tips. My causing has let me play on his account(fulltilt) many times and I have learned how to play but I need to play better .I am not planning to make good income playing poker but I do want to make few bucks here and there. The last tournament I won for my causing because he had to to leave had a reward of 60$ which was nice. I won 3 out of 3 tournaments what he would ask me to finish for him and I have won some on my own but since it’s his account I would only risk about 2$ per tournament he risks more. Here are some neat strategies that I have developed . I have found a way to take advantage of pressure players by pretending to hassitate and once they pot me and expect me to fold I double it up and at that point its really hard for them to fold.(I do this when i have good cards) I also switch my playing style from playing only when i have good cards to bluffing and playing almost every hand during the cource of the tournament. I never go all in before the flop and when I chose when to pot raise or fold I do it really fast so its hard for them to read me. Do you have any tips because I am a noob but a very cautios one?

Looking for online poker that offers..?

online poker tournaments

Question by Jesus: Looking for online poker that offers..?
Hey I was with a friend and he was playing poker online. I forgot which poker site/program he used, but he was playing for real money.

He was able to go to like 9 player tournaments (so just 1 table) and he puts like $ 10 in, or $ 20 or how much ever you’d like and you start with 1100 in chips. Winner gets 50% of entire pot and so on. I tried poker stars and full tilt poker but i had no luck finding an option to play those kinds of tournaments I guess.

Anyone know what im talking about?
Key emphasis on 9 player tournament. I just want to do ones like this that aren’t too long.

Answer by generationofswine1
Those are single table or “Sit And Go” tournaments. If you want them to be specifically 9 players you will have to play on a site like Cake or Aced Poker which have 9 player tables. They both run these, just look for Sit N Gos or Single Table Tournaments. If you do sign up you should sign up through http://www.rakebackresource.com so you get rakeback on both of those sites because that way you’ll get a third of the fee you pay for those tournaments paid back to you through rakeback.

Q&A: Online Poker (No Limit Holdem) Question?

Question by bestanswersinchicago: Online Poker (No Limit Holdem) Question?
Okay, was drinking with a buddy last nite and started talking about online poker and had a question we couldn’t agree on.

I see some websites sell programs that supposedly allow you to see other players cards at a table. I guess first off is this possible or is everything to secure for this to happen. If it is possible could a normal person do it or would it take a Genius like Stever Erkle or Dougie Houser to do something like this? I have heard techincally the software does work, however you need to have everyone at the tables ip address which would be difficult to get.

Also, I guess this question is along those same lines but somewhat different. I was telling my buddy how I play in sit and go tournaments of like 10 people sometimes and he said it’s all a scam that friends sit at a table and play together and tell each other their cards to screw everyone else at the table. I’m sure some people do this but do you really think it’s that prevalent that you shouldn’t plya online?
You brought up an interesting point, I think if your not in a game you can sit at a table and watch a game and see players cards. You would think sites would be onto this but maybe not. I’m going to log onto bodog poker and see if I can sit at a table and just do that. I’ll report back whether you can see cards or not.
Okay, just checked, they do guard against that which is good. That would suck if people always knew your hand.
I saw someone commented the poker rooms would be out of business. THey are still making a rake on every game/hand so they are not going out of business. Anyone who has cheat programs are taking money from othe players not the poker room, they are making more money. I’ve also heard people claim the games sorta fixed by making sure people win a good percentage of the time so everyone kind of breaks even and they keep making their rake.

I’ve heard of the “group” play online to do exactly what you are saying….I haven’t seen it for real $ $ $ $ though….usually just a point/token system.

I’ve heard of the programs to let you “see” the other players cards…….the software usually has to do with the site you are at and not an individuals personal IP address…..from what I understand it is used at specific sites so that you can view the full table of cards in one particular game. I also have “met” a few people who run more than one computer at a time so they can double-play or “watch” player(s) as the gamble…..how they cheat this way exactly …. I’m not sure.

Are there any online poker rooms I can try for free?

Question by JudasHero: Are there any online poker rooms I can try for free?
Are there any sites that offer real money games that I can just sample (play at play money tables or freerolls) before I decide whether or not to make a deposit? If there are, when I decide to make a deposit can I still use bonus codes?
I’m thinking of Party Poker, Bodog and Pacific Poker in particular, but any sites would be great.
I’m already on Poker Stars, thinking of expanding!

Q&A: How do taxes work for online poker tournaments?

poker tournaments

Question by Nicolas: How do taxes work for online poker tournaments?
I am an online poker player and I have made a good amount of money online or at least I’d like to think so… I am a little worried about taxes.

I only play poker tournaments, absolutely no cash games. Would taxes apply to the amounts I cash out and the amounts I deposit?
I make at least 5-10 deposits and 5-10 cashouts per month. When I mean cashout, I mean asking a check from the poker website.
I forgot to mention that I live in California (United States)
Example: I deposit $ 150… Lose that. Deposit $ 150 again. I get to $ 600 and Cashout. Deposit $ 150 again. etc….

At the end of the month I have $ 2000 in cashouts and $ 1000 in deposits. Are the cashouts my wins and what I’m supposed to tax?

Best answer:

Answer by Dan H
“There are several cases in law that would suggest that betting and gaming (and poker, as a game of skill) are tax free occupations.”

I think it is tax-free in the UK, but not in the States.

Edit: In that case it seems to be more complicated.

Since you’re gambling, you have to be the legal age of your country. Otherwise, you’re jailed. :)
