Question by born2survive: Hand not paid as it should have been on a major online poker site. What to do?
Was playing in a tournament at one of the biggest online poker sites and didn’t get paid as I should have done. I won the hand yet the pot was split. I was playing real money. The tounament was a 20 seater and cost $ 9 to enter. Anyone else had this happen to them or an idea of what I should expect back from the poker site in compensation?
Please note this has been checked by numerous people and the mistake is 100%. I had to replay the hand 3 times myself and show it to 2 other poker players to believe it myself. It is presently being investigated by the poker site. Just not sure what to expect from them?
The flop was AD, 9D, 4C, 4S, 9S. I had A5 he had A2. As you can see no flush or straight draw was out. We both had two pairs Aces and 9′s but the highest kicker (5th card) was my 5.

Best answer:

Answer by ZCT
I suspect that you misunderstood the hand.

Even the smallest and most basic poker sites are capable of figuring out which hand wins. There is no advantage to the site in ripping someone off with a split pot in a tournament that cost $ 9 to enter.

Most of the decent poker sites like Poker Stars and Full Tilt, have dealt over a billion hands. It just isn’t conceivable at this point that the computer cannot figure out the winner in a pot.

My guess is that you misunderstand kicker rules.

UPDATE:

Based on the hand you explained you would be correct, the five would play. If you have the exact hand data, email it to support@whateverpokersite.com and see what they say.

Honestly if you are correct in what the cards were, I cannot imagine a major site like Full Tilt or Poker Stars making that kind of mistake. So I suggest if you are 100% sure that the mistake happened, you pick a better site to play on.

What do you think? Answer below!

I am trying to find a place where I can play chess online where I play other humans in real time. I also want the site to have a ranking system so I can track my progress. Also, if it exists, I would prefer the site had 3D boards. I’m pretty much looking for a thing like Full Tilt Poker but for chess.

As you alredy know from my answers, I’m pretty expert on Texas Holdem I have played in http://www.pacificpoker.com/?sr=944826 poker tournaments and it was pretty challenging…

Best answer:

Answer by rajjpuut
Despite the protest written into your question, I highly recommend you play the TurboPoker program on its toughest levels. You can play head to head or at a final table of ten or you can face 5000 very tough robotic opponents. It’s the only cheap way to learn to play strong poker.

However, since you appear to have a death wish, go online and play No-Limit or Limit Hold ‘em or 7 Card Stud or whatever at stakes of $ 100-$ 200 in a ring (non-tournament) game. You’ll get all the teaching you want. Only about 60% will be ‘expert’ or professional players and the rest just have a lot of money, but they’ll all give you more than you can handle, at least for a while. Hope you’re a millionaire, but keep about $ 90 aside so after the humans clean you out, you can learn the trade for a lot less with the robots. Good luck, you’ll need it.

Best answer:

Answer by Love P
These poker tools in my opinion are more of a pain in butt then they are a help. They slow down the game, take up time and malfunction. All most of them give you is odds which you should be able to calculate yourself. I would focus more of my time on getting the best possible poker bonuses or obtaining some free professional advice at http://www.InternetPokerBonuses.com

are there any online poker sites that i can play and make money straight up, without a point system or having to play in tournaments. I want to find a site that you can just deposit money, gamble with that money, and then whatever you make can withdraw
im looking for stuff similar to ring games, but instead of playing for points ur playing for real money. Like for example partypoker when you play hands they award you points, and then you would have to save those points and exchange them for cash. In other words you make money for the number of hands that you play.
Im looking for games that are more casino styled where you can bet money and when you win you actually get the money that your risked

Question by Wendell: Is Online Poker Rigged?
I recently made a deposit on Full Tilt and have been playing micro limit hold em as well as small 2 dollar buy in tournaments.

I’m a decent enough player who tries his best to only play premium hands. Problem is, I am regularly getting beat while holding hands like pocket aces,AK,KKs,QQs etc.. and the beats are just crazy, I’m loosing to hands like 4 of a kind, straight flushes often so that when I make what I perceive to be a great hand, some idiot who played total trash is check raising me with the nuts…

I play low limits in the Atlantic City and at Foxwoods and have had good success beating the 2-4 and 4-8 limit games but online I can barely if at all beat a 10 cent 20 cent game….

What gives, am I playing against bots? is the deck be electronically loaded against me ? Online poker rooms are not based in the US,so I think fair play is a fair question since I suspect their is no equivalent to the casino control commision to regulate and insure fair play…

Am I wrong ?

Best answer:

Answer by Christian
Online Poker is not rigged. The bad thing about poker is that the game can change so fast. And you say that you get beat with AA well its a fact that you lose with that hand more times than you win.

Question by mechvegas: Best way to track online poker income for tax purposes?
Right now, 100% of my income is from online poker. I cash out $ 2,000 ever 2 weeks or so and have a check mailed to me. I play Sit-n-go tournaments almost exclusively. If you don’t know what this is, you basically sign up for a small tournament (between 9 and 45 players), and once enough people have signed up to play, it starts.

My question is, what is the best way to track this for my 2008 tax return? I’m sure ideally I would record every single tournament, but by the end of the year I will have thousands of tournament results, but it seems this is rather tedious for both me and the IRS.

Would it be more effective, or legal for me to simply track the cashout checks? Since I’m working with an out of country company, and the money’s not really “mine” until I have a check in hand I thought this might be ok.

Also, I never make deposits (and actually never have, but that’s another story) if that makes any difference.

Best answer:

Answer by AccountantKyle
Online gambling is an extremely questionable legal area. Regulators, frustrated in their failed attempts to block US access to off shore gaming sites, have turned their energy towards attacking banks and individual gamblers.

This being said, it is critical that you file taxes. You would certainly not have a problem simply recording your withdraw checks that you deposit in your bank against any deposits you make in the online poker site.

The IRS cannot see your account balance on the poker site, and since it is operating offshore and by allowing you to gamble, operating illegally, it is in their best interests to keep your account quiet.

Legally, the money in that account is yours, and you should be counting it as income. However, realistically, the IRS can’t see that money, and by reporting your earning checks as income, you will have yourself covered just fine.

My question is actually in two parts. And what I mean by “best online poker room,” I’m asking about what is the best overall and which has the most credibility.

1) From what I’ve read, PokerStars is the best, with Full Tilt coming in second.

2) Is it worth playing online at all, considering the fact that a lot of people play using bots and other programs to give them a stronger advantage?

The biggest concern I have about playing online is whether or not it will help improve my game, considering you obviously can’t see the players faces or study their body language. I’ve been doing very well at poker rooms in Vegas this past year, but I don’t live there and I’m not ready to quit my job and go professional until I at least make it to the final round of a major tournament. But it would be nice to be able to practice with other serious players when not in Vegas.

I’ve been a bit technophobic when it comes to this sort of thing, but if it really does help improve one’s game and strategy at brick-and-mortar tournaments, I suppose it’s worth a shot.

Best answer:

Answer by Rob
poker stars and fulltilt are the only sites i would deposit my own money to play they are trusted and take more action against cheaters and hackers they also have software to detect cheaters
