Question by Glyn B: What poker site has the cheapest sit & go tournaments, and how much is the buy-in?
Paradise Poker has €2.20 buy-in, but that’s the only site I’ve used so far.

Yeah, I thought it was a loss at the poker tables when the US Government passed that law, and I still think it.
So far, it looks like Pokerstars, with a $ 0.10 NL Hold’em buy-in, and no fee. Monday 06:00.
Correction, the above tournament is not Sit & Go, sorry.

Ok, I’m playing Pokerstars and only playing 9 or 18 person tournaments
I’m wondering how much should I play for compared to how much I have in my Pokerstars account….
EX: Only play tournaments that buyins are 1/10th of how much you have saved in your Pokerstars account (Account=$ 100 then play tournaments that buy ins are $ 10)
Any ideas about what ratio you suggest to play with…thanks!

Don’t know about LA, but generally speaking, your paycheck will probably only be minimum wage. tips vary widely. Some days you’ll make much more than others.

I’ve seen a few clips of pro poker players that are just disgusted with online playes winning or buying into a pro tournament and their play is just awful and sometimes by sheer luck, the online players wins money. Should some respect be shown to actual pros….that if you’re stepping into their world, learn the rules, the odds…don’t just bet goofy and hope for a hand…actually know what you hold and know how to bet….

Pros love online players. At the end of the day the online explosion has brought a massive influx of dreadful players into the game which has given many of the huge pay days. They may be exasperated by some of the hyper maniac players, but in the long term good pros will always come out on top.

I would tip 5% ($ 1000 in your example), but never more than $ 5000 no matter what I won. I know it gets split between the dealers, but I figure the rake is severe enough in the cash games that if you fluke into a big win on a BBJ that you aren’t obligated to put a lot into a tip. I’ve seen a jackpot go at $ 185k once so $ 5k.

As an aside, I’ve seen a lot of tourney’s start taking tips off the top of the total pool. I’d be very reluctant to give any tip in this case, even if I won the top prize.

Depends how large it is.

On Sunday’s, sites have their big tournaments… you can enter for $ 10 and win that much (if you can beat the thousands and thousands of players)

During the week it’ll be a higher stakes tournament with less people to win that much.

Totally depends, there are tournaments of all sizes and stake levels.

EDIT: Every week there are tournaments with over $ 1M in the prize pool, where the winner gets a couple hundred thousands… then a couple times a year there are even larger ones than that.
Seriously, there are tournaments of ALL SIZES and stake levels.
