I’ve been playing Pokemon online for the past year and a half, and I was wondering if I would be ready to play in a live Poker tournament now.

Thanks for the input in advance!

depends if you EV train, and how well you are doing online. You might also want to IV breed if you are thinking about entering a tournament. It also depends who you are playing online. I say go for it if you EV train and IV breed, what do you have to lose?

I don’t know about the money… I don’t gamble.

But online poker players don’t have tells… ;) I like playing with real people because I like to analyze them.

Question by rockyrowlands15: First live poker tournement at a casino just have some questions please?
how do i know when its time to show my cards like how do i know im the first person to show, who shows there cards first and also when i win a pot do i reach in and get my chips or do i wait for the dealer to pass me them? am a little bit nervous dont want to embarris myself thanks for the help!

Best answer:

Answer by TheMadProfessor
At a casino, NEVER reach in to grab chips from the pot…wait for the dealer to push them your way. While I can’t swear to it, fairly sure that if someone opened the betting on the river, they’re the first obligated to show…if river was checked around, then first clockwise from button would be first. (However, I don’t recall ever seeing a hand where no one was willing to show their cards and someone had to be forced to be the first.)

Is live poker coming to the Grand Victoria casino in Elgin IL?

Question by LazrD: Is live poker coming to the Grand Victoria casino in Elgin IL?
I heard a rumor that live poker is coming to the riverboat. Is that true? And if so, when?

I played at this casino once, it is VERY VERY small, i doubt they would have room to host a poker game, if they did they would be biting the bullet on more profitable games which they would have to get rid of, in a casino as small as that maximizing profit per square foot is important and i just dont think they would take a loss in revenue by adding poker tables and removing slot machines especially in the current financial state most casinos are right now.

Question by W D: Where can I find a poker tournament event near where I live?
I love playing poker, and have been playing online for the last couple years with house money. Now I want to find a live tournament near where I live. Where can I go to find information about tournaments in my area? I can’t seem to find any good sites online. Thanks in advance for your response.

best place i would recommend, would be any casino within your area..or maybe there is a poker club or something like that in your area that has meetings you could try that out as well…i would also suggest getting together with some friends and playing home games, either a cash game or tournament style. but since your looking for tournaments, the casinos would be a good place to start, considering a lot of casinos hold daily poker tournaments.

What is the procedure for getting in on a live poker game in a casino in Vegas?

Question by casino_bandit: What is the procedure for getting in on a live poker game in a casino in Vegas?
I play twice a week at home and everyday online. Do I just walk up to a table with money, or is there somewhere I need to sign in, or what? I prefer low limit, like 1-2. We play .50-1 here, but I dont expect to find that anywhere.

In pretty much any Vegas casino you will see a reception desk. Go to the desk and ask them if they have $ 1/$ 2 no limit. If they do ask to put your name down for it. Then ask them any questions you have. Do you buy chips at the table? Do you buy chips from them etc? The staff are trained to answer all your questions. Rules and policies differ from one casino to the other. But all have a friendly reception desk where you can sign up.

When a seat comes open they will call your name. Some casinos even give you one of those beeper things like restaurants have that buzzes and flashes when they are ready to seat you.

Depending on the casino they will take you to your seat or simply tell you what table to go to.

Just keep in mind that many of the players in the $ 1/$ 2 game have no more experience than you. So don’t be intimidated. Just play tight for a while and get the hang of the game and a read on your opponents.

I live in New York state. What are the easiest online poker rooms to win at ?

online poker

Question by dkj9002000: I live in New York state. What are the easiest online poker rooms to win at ?
I live in New York, so my online poker options are limited. I used to really enjoy playing on the ipoker network. Sites such as Poker770, CDpoker, Noble Poker, Poker Ocean were all on this network. Unfortunetely they do not allow USA players anymore. I also did OK on the Prima Poker Network, Sites such as (Dream poker, Crazy Poker, and Golden Riviera Poker) were on this network…. I have tried Absolute Poker, Poker Stars and Bodog Poker and I do not win to often anymore. Does anyone know what are the easiest poker sites to win at???

What differences should a online poker player know about when they go play their first live poker tournament?

online poker tournaments

Question by bigwheels1031: What differences should a online poker player know about when they go play their first live poker tournament?
I am playing my first live tournament today! It isn’t actually for any money just for fun but I still want to learn from it. Does the whole sunglasses and hat deal actually work well at hiding your tells or not?

Best answer:

Answer by Lone Wolf
Live is different than online. The betting will be both more subdued (in general) and explosive.
Yes, sunglasses, etc. can help. Other props can too – a drink, etc. Be careful of nervous/subconscious habits giving you away.
The main thing is your attitude – all tells come from that. Tells are usually more subtle than blatant. More of a feeling than a literal sign. The most successful players do not play a bad hand with a losing attitude, or a winning hand with a winning attitude (except to throw in a red herring – successful playing requires that you be “found out” every now and then – whether bluffing or not). The real trick is to normally play a bluff slightly towards the winning attitude side – a false tell cannot be too obvious – not show as implied but rather left to be inferred by the bluffed. The same holds true for a winning hand – to get the maximum money out of a winning hand the opponents must not be informed but let them discover your slightly weak tell. No discernible change in attitude when playing one or the other is the holy grail of live poker playing.
The majority of hands will be won by luck of the draw and skill in odds/betting amounts.
The rest is figuring out what the other players are up to. Trust your instincts – watch everything every player does, in every situation, to fine tune them.
