Question by Paris P: Where is the best bargain if I like to play poker in casinos?
I have a five day vacation from work coming up fast in August and I want to go somewhere for two or three days on a budget… I love poker and casinos, and have about $ 400 to spend on the gambling and and $ 350 for the flight and hotel… where is the best bargain when it comes to casino trips? Namely cities, hotels, casinos and flights. I don’t really want to rent a car either.

(Been to Vegas, AC, and live near Detroit, so i’ve seen a fair share of casinos).

Soaring Eagle casino in Mt Pleasant…easy to get to, friendly & won’t cost a bundle to stay in the area-even at the casino itself (although the surrounding motels are ’bout half the price) . Prob only ’bout 2 hr drive from Det area. Only casino in Mt Pleasant, but I’ve been to vegas and AC and if you want to play poker mainly in thecard room, its a winner…

Im trying to plan a casino theme party for my boyfriend and I dont know what a resonable price for renting casino tables and dealers is? I live in southern Ca. Any suggestions on where I should go or a price range I should be looking for?

If there are numerous casino party companies in your area then don’t expect a huge price difference by shopping around. I’d contact 2 or 3 of them with your proposal and get quotes.

Be wary of deep discount deals that seem to good to be true because they often are too good to be true.

If this is a large party then you’ll need a large venue to hold it. If you want a full blown casino party with 21 tables, craps, roulette, and slot machines then you better have a place that can hold all of that equipment. That place will also charge you rent to hold it.

I found this for you at one of the las vegas casino sites – this is what they say about their poker at the casino;
Rolling poker tournaments are offered all day, every two hours from 3:30am until 7:30pm. Buy-in for the tournaments ranges from $ 40-70 and includes $ 2,000 in tournament chips.

You can get a cheap one at any place that sells board and card games, like Walmart or Target. If you want a high class casino style one, that’s the type of thing that’s going to be both expensive, and that you’d have to special order.

Unlike a casino, a poker room doesn’t have an opportunity to win money directly from the players, so they take a percentage from each pot in order to make their profit. This is called a “rake” they take their cut off the total winnings off the winning hand. In tournaments, the rake is built into the buy-in for the tourney, and is usually referred to after the “+” sign. For example, if you’re playing in a $ 200 + $ 15 buy-in event, the $ 15 is the rake, and the $ 200 goes toward the prize pool.
