I saw a online advertisment for a poker site (pokerstars) and it said that if i signed up i would receive 600 dollar bonus for creating an account. I made the account but now I’m worried i might have to go to jail. Is it allowed to play online poker? I really want to have the 600 dollars sign up bonus. Can someone with a background in LAW please give me some advies??

Best answer:

Answer by IGiveAnswers
Since you’re gambling, you have to be the legal age of your country. Otherwise, you’re jailed.

Question by get dough: Is the money that poker room staff recieve from Las vegas Poker tournaments regulated and legal?
Seems to me they have forms but do not pay taxes on the alleged money. I understand dealers have some sort of a tip compliance but their floor people do not…

Best answer:

Answer by rickinnocal
Because there’s no cash in play in tournaments, the dealers ‘tips’ come from the add-on that the house charges on top of your entry fee. As such, it is paid to them directly from the casino, and reported as income in the “Allocated tips” box of their W-2.

Tips that the dealers get for dealing cash games is, in ‘most’ places, pooled. That means that they all put the tips in a pot, and it’s shared out by the house. Again, since it’s shared out by the house, it’s reported as allocated tops on the W-2.

Whether or not floor people participate in the pool, are ‘tipped out’ by dealers, or are untipped, varies depending on actual job, and from place to place.

Tips that are given to, and kept by, employees – be they dealers or pit bosses – must be reported as income on the 1040 in addition to any allocated tips reported by the employer. Is every dealer or pit boss completely forthcoming about how much they make in tips. Sure… just as every waitress, cabby, hairdresser or stripper is.

This is a legal question on poker.

I’m 15 and I was wondering if it was legal for a person my age to play FREE online poker. Just against other people and stuff. Thanks! Oh and I’m in Florida if that changes anything.

Best answer:

Answer by Gr33nGr3m1in
Possibly, it depends on what the website’s definition of “free” is. If you really want to play though, go to http://www.pogo.com . No money is ever exchanged unless you buy a pay account with them and you can play all you want without winning or losing any real cash.

Subsequently, is it STILL legal if players were allowed to exchange the fake currency for real currency?

I’m not sure, but I think sites like CentSports.com are following this (unsure if tehy’re US-based).

Best answer:

Answer by Patti
although it may be expensive to start a free poker site it is legal because it is only a game and not gambling. As for th latter you cannot have money transfers involved.

Question by Joe: is online poker legal to play in the united states?
since the passing of a bill by bush its illegal to make transactions from banks to online poker sites, but there are ways around that….

is it legal to play online poker in the united states for money if you are of age? Also, the bill says you cant make transactions from your account to online poker sites, but if you get a check from the poker site can you cash it at your bank?
