Despite the protest written into your question, I highly recommend you play the TurboPoker program on its toughest levels. You can play head to head or at a final table of ten or you can face 5000 very tough robotic opponents. It’s the only cheap way to learn to play strong poker.

However, since you appear to have a death wish, go online and play No-Limit or Limit Hold ‘em or 7 Card Stud or whatever at stakes of $ 100-$ 200 in a ring (non-tournament) game. You’ll get all the teaching you want. Only about 60% will be ‘expert’ or professional players and the rest just have a lot of money, but they’ll all give you more than you can handle, at least for a while. Hope you’re a millionaire, but keep about $ 90 aside so after the humans clean you out, you can learn the trade for a lot less with the robots. Good luck, you’ll need it.

I have a set of them which comes with the 1,5,10,25, and 100. But not the 500 and 1000. I wouldnt mind buting a whole new set of them as long as it comes with the 500 and 1000 dollar chips.

My nephew is turning 21 next year in Jan and I have been put in charge of hiring/buying Las Vegas themed decorations eg huge ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ Signs, Roulette/Poker/Black Jack Tables, large center piece dice, casino banners and just basically anything and everything that screams LAS VEGAS

We are located in Wellington, so all props etc, will also have to be located here or can be bought here.

We are planning an EXTREME birthday for him, but are finding it hard to decorations that we like.

Can you please help by advising me where to go and/or providing links etc……

Thanks for the input Jimmy. Yes we have already booked a Venue, DJ, Band, show girls and plenty of Alcohol but that will be for the evening, the decorations, set menu lunch and such is for the morning/afternoon as this is a whole day event. He as well as us wanted this. And no, a guy wanting a big event does not make him a girl.

But unless your nephew has turned into a niece then he or his friends aren’t really going to care what the place looks like or themed for.
Id suggest spending your money on buying them some kegs/alcohol or a band/DJ,hiring a hall etc (good luck with that) and let them loose.
Have a family dinner somewhere for all the aunty’s, uncles, mums and dads, grandparents a couple of days before.

21st are always messy, well the good ones are and again no offence meant or implied.

You mean someone to bankroll you? You’ll just have to ask around. You’ll have to agree to give them a percentage of your winnings, probably 50%, and you might have to guarantee some of their money will come back at your expense if you finish out of the money, and/or wear clothing advertising a company. If you win enough on-line, you can earn entries to live tournaments where the site sponsors you.

I love playing poker, and have been playing online for the last couple years with house money. Now I want to find a live tournament near where I live. Where can I go to find information about tournaments in my area? I can’t seem to find any good sites online. Thanks in advance for your response.

best place i would recommend, would be any casino within your area..or maybe there is a poker club or something like that in your area that has meetings you could try that out as well…i would also suggest getting together with some friends and playing home games, either a cash game or tournament style. but since your looking for tournaments, the casinos would be a good place to start, considering a lot of casinos hold daily poker tournaments.

I play on Poker Stars and Pacific Poker. Pacific Poker has a nice variety of tournaments, only problem is, they are ALL Texas Hold Em. Poker Stars, on the other hand, holds razz, 2-7 Triple Draw, 5 Card Draw, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, HORSE and SHOE. While they have an excellent variety, there’s not a lot of quantity of each of these tournaments and sit-n-go’s. Are there any sites where these or other poker variations are held and have decent traffic?
Poker Stars has an immense volume, I agree. But I’ve never seen an Omaha sit-n-go fill up (granted, they only offer 45 seaters), not to mention a Razz, 7 Card Stud or HORSE sit-n-go.
I’ve sat waiting for a low buy-in Omaha sit-n-go to fill up for 3 hours. It got about 6 players by the time I called it quits and went to bed.
I checked Ultimate Bet. They offer fewer variations and fewer tables, but yes, they do offer Omaha, Omaha hi/lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud hi/lo.

If you don’t think PokerStars has a large enough volume of traffic you’re pretty much out of luck. They are by far the largest site on the net. You’ll have to play smaller buy-in S&Gs if you’re looking for steadier traffic on Stars, there should be plenty of cheap ones.
Play more table stakes instead of S&Gs and tournaments. Not only is there plenty of action in every form of poker this way, it’s also good to mix up your play between stakes and tourneys as the play and strategies are so much different and it’s good to get experience in both formats.
