Nothing better than winning a poker tournament?

poker tournaments

Question by Mack Daddy: Nothing better than winning a poker tournament?
I’ve won a few poker tournaments in my day and I believe there is no greater feeling than winning a poker tournament. The odds are against you and you come through. I get such a sense of accomplishment from winning poker tournaments. I get that feeling from nothing else. So do you all agree? Nothing feels better than winning a poker tournament? Not even sex.
Yeah, maybe I overexagerated about the sex part. I just won a poker tournament last night. It felt great.

How can I end poker tournaments better?

poker tournaments

Question by cincycracker9: How can I end poker tournaments better?
i usually play 27-player, 45-player, or 180-player tourneys (or heads-up, but that’s irrelevant) online and i’m wondering how to finish them better. i cash somewhat often, but when i don’t, it’s because i don’t manage my chips very well, even when i’m in great position standings-wise…
my question is: do players typically tighten up until they’re in the cash? i just need to understand better what other players are doing (how they’re betting) when it gets close to guaranteed cash so i can play accordingly.

Best answer:

Answer by Misha
Yes, players do generally tighten up just before the cash. Generally speaking this is not the correct play. One top three finish will usually be worth more than several times of barely making the money. (the format of your tourneys may mean this is not correct.)

You should attempt to take advantage of your opponents [incorrect] overly tight play. Observe those opponents who are playing too tightly and steal their blinds.

“Sit ‘n Go Strategy” by Collin Moshman or “Harrington’s books about tourneys might be a good investment.

Question by Kyle: Jacks or Better video poker bonus game. Is it a good bet?
I was playing jacks or better video poker and where I was playing they had a bonus game after you won where you can double your win if you want. A card apears and you pick one of four cards. If the card is higher you double your win. If you lose you lse your total bet initially won. Is this a good bet? Does anyone know a stratigy for this game?

Many video poker games and slot machines are not beatable even if you follow an exact strategy. The only way to beat these games is if you are getting a casino bonus by playing them. I would try learning the strategy of Hold em Poker and playing it either online or in the casino. Good luck!
