The only way to become a prop player for your local card room would be to ask them the requirements. Most casinos/cardrooms don’t need prop players its more of an online thing

If I wanted to become a ‘professional’ poker player, how would I start? Online tournaments? Local tournaments? Is there a place I can go to find more information? Or should I just take my 10k buy in to the main event and hope to make the final table (or at the very least, in the money). I guess I’m just trying to figure out if there is a place where I can gain more information about wanting to take poker seriously rather than just watching it on tv.

I would think that you should go down to the closest casino and sit down at a poker table and play. Once you can do that and make enough money to live off without working an outside job then you will be a pro. Winning the main event at the WSOP doesn’t make you a pro. It doesn’t hurt but it doesn’t make you a pro.

BTW playing online allows you to get a lot of experience in a short period of time.

I’ve been dealing underground games for quite some time now and anytime I go to a casino and watch the dealers there’s nothing they do that I can’t. I’m wondering if I should let my prospective employer know if I have worked underground games?

I doubt that will work, you definitely have to go about getting a license and that usually means a dealing school course. It’s usually around a 90-100 hour credit course and can be found at different places around the country. Here are a few of them…………

Do you use software and how does that help?
Have you read any books like Killer Poker Online, aprt 1 or 2 or Online poker for winners.

I have used Holdem Indicator which tells you the odds of your handing winning in comparison to the pot odds. I find it very useful as i struggle with poker calculations / maths, so its perfect for me.
