depends if you EV train, and how well you are doing online. You might also want to IV breed if you are thinking about entering a tournament. It also depends who you are playing online. I say go for it if you EV train and IV breed, what do you have to lose?

What are the differences beetween the different kinds of tournaments?

Question by JudasHero: What are the differences beetween the different kinds of tournaments?
There are so many different kinds of poker tournaments, it’s hard for me to tell the differences. What are the differences between them? For example, what is a “freeroll”?
I’m talking about a freeroll tournament, where there’s no buy-in.

In every tournament there are two factors you need to look at. The first is the game being played: Hold’em Razz Stud Omaha Eights or Better. Each one has its own rules. Hold’em is the most popular game right now. Secondly, look at the type of Hold’em Razz Stud etc. They can be either No Limit, Limit, or Pot Limit. No limit means you can put all your money in at any time. Pot limit forces you to only bet whats in the pot, and Limit has a fixed betting structure throughout the entire tournament.
The term freeroll means that all players in the hand are tied and only one player has the chance to win if a specific card comes up. Lets say we are playing hold’em. You have Ace and King of Spades. I have Ace and King of Diamonds. 2 diamonds come up and 1 club. then another heart comes up. I am now on a free roll b/c neither one of us can lose but I can win if a diamond comes up.

Strategies? Well, after finding openpokerusa.com, I knew that i have found a poker site for USA poker players, so i decided to start playing long free tournaments, know as now freerolls. Freeroll tournaments have a complete different strategy then playing in a real cash tournament. I like to fold pretty much every hand for the first hour, till the break, in a freeroll tournament because there are too many players that bluff a lot, and don’t play the strong hand. After the first hour, you have to start playing little more aggressive, otherwise you will get blinded out. Must steal couple pots with K, Q suited for example. If you just wait for the monster hand you will never win. In real cash tournaments, in my opinion, if you call a raise with your hand, you better be ready to go all in. I only play cards which I’m ready to go all in with. Everyone has a different strategy to online poker, but I would recommend switching between aggressive playing and slow playing every hour or so. Try to steal couple main pots by raising the bet before the flop, and definitely bet decent amount after the flop, even if you don’t have the cards, 50% of a time, everyone will fold thinking you have a monster hand. Once again, I found some unique rooms at openpokerusa.com Good Luck!

Q&A: How does Pai Gow Poker compare to regular poker in a brick and mortar casino.?
Question by wizard41: How does Pai Gow Poker compare to regular poker in a brick and mortar casino.?
As far as house edge goes.
Best answer:
Answer by Vegas Matt
Pai Gow Poker is a regular casino table game where you play against the house. The house edge is about 1 and a half percent, but can vary depending on your skill at setting cards and how the house sets the cards. You cannot, however, overcome the house edge. It is always a losing game.
Regular poker is a skill game where you play against other patrons, not the house. The “house edge” is not calculable because it depends on the skill of the players involved in the game. Obviously, a skilled player can create an advantage with skill, something you cannot do at most games.
Also, it should be noted that the house edge is most certainly present. Because of the rake (the money the house takes as profit after a hand reaches a certain amount), if all players at the table have exactly equal skill, every player at that table has a negative expectation. That’s why skill is so important. You cannot just be ‘average’ and expect to win. You must be above average.

Does anyone know where I can play chess online against other humans, that had a ranking system and tournaments?
Question by Andrew: Does anyone know where I can play chess online against other humans, that had a ranking system and tournaments?
I am trying to find a place where I can play chess online where I play other humans in real time. I also want the site to have a ranking system so I can track my progress. Also, if it exists, I would prefer the site had 3D boards. I’m pretty much looking for a thing like Full Tilt Poker but for chess.
Thanks
