The best out there is PokerStars.

Unfortunately due to draconian American gambling restrictions if you live in the US you are unlikely to be able to deposit using a visa or a master card. You MAY be able to use a visa debit card, but that is still unlikely.

Sadly, until we force our politicians to do what we want, not what they think is best for us it will always be difficult to do online deposits from the US.

Right now the best service is epassporte.com.

A friend I know plays a lot of online poker and he is afraid that if he were to win a lot of money and did not pay taxes on it that he would be subject to the american penal system.

There are plenty of poker rooms to choose from which comes in different variety. Your first choice should be gaming destinations with substantial player volume. A poker room’s popularity is the best proof of its fairness in games and transparency in payouts. Try to check some poker site review.

I find http://www.best-poker-site-reviews.com to be quite useful as it has good comparison of various online poker rooms.
