Question by john: would it be a good investment to practice poker online, maybe hire a coach, read alot theb play tournaments?
would it pay off to educate myself and get a coacch even and gain all the experience i can then try to play tournaments like World Poker Tour with those large buy ins of 10k or odds simply strongly against that? Also how do you qualify or try out for the WPT? Im 18 now and playing texas hold em’ though not that seriously, so i suppose i have a little of time.

18 its gonna be hard to really play wtp or wsop since most are for 21
but if you want to learn play like i did and get ready to lose

ok am assuming your think of going pro ill give my basic rules before your start
1 bank roll
2 money management this is important part in all card playing since this is were you will see if you can survive

ok now how this works
bank roll and money management go hand and hand
to start with think of this as an investment in business like owing a store
let say you start out with 500 this has to last you 6 month to a year if you go broke then your need to re think

Since the passed the law not letting us gamble online anymore I have heard of ways around this. Can anyone tell me how to do this so I can play poker online for money again?

I play a combination of .10/.25 NL and .25/.50 limit holdem.
Are there any bonuses that are as easy to clear as party and empire’s. I cleared those for $ 200 in two days!! I’ve looked around at lots of websites including bonuswhores.com but have yet to find any bonuses that are anywhere near as easy to clear as these two. All the other bonuses seem to require you play at least .50/1 NL and 1/2 limit to be able to clear quickly. I’ve found that the variance is too high at these levels for me to effectively clear a bonus without risking too much of my roll.

Ultimate Bet, Absolute Poker, Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker have low limits tables. And they have the 100% bonus.

I’ve just started playing online poker and I’ve refined my skill over the last month. I’ve gotten pretty good but I’m wondering whether this is a lucrative venture. Question by james: how do they count all the chips in poker tournaments?
yeah might seem a bit stupid but im watching poker on the tv and they raise like 426k and i was wondering how they know how much they have raised straight away.

i know like the chips have value but if you have a stack of hundreds of chips how do they count it that quick?

Because the stacks are usually set amounts. Usually stacks of 20 chips… something like that.

So if someone pushes in a stack of 20K chips, you know that’s 400K. Works from there.
